This brief explains the important role of civil society organizations (CSOs) in Nepal‘s sustainable development, explores their funding options, and shows how they work with government and international nongovernment organizations.
Highlighting Nepal’s strong tradition of community support, it estimates there are over 50,000 CSOs in the country, details their evolution, and shows how their capacities have grown. It outlines how ADB works closely with local CSOs on its projects and explains why their on-the-ground knowledge is critical to efforts to improve women’s rights, tackle climate change, and transform communities and livelihoods.
