This paper explores the possibility of promoting climate resilience and carbon neutrality throughout the life cycle of road infrastructure in Tajikistan.
Given the country’s geographic and topographic challenges, its transport infrastructure is exposed to risks associated with extreme climate change events. In addition, Tajikistan’s transport sector needs to adopt measures for promoting carbon neutrality to meet the country’s environmental commitments. Focusing on Tajikistan’s road subsector―the dominant transport subsector―the paper proposes a life cycle approach aligned with the country’s updated nationally determined contribution to identifying potential solutions.
