Compulsory attendance laws continue to serve the state-run monopoly on education. They trap students in schools that often fail to meet their needs, especially in low-income communities.
Removing compulsory attendance laws could unlock unprecedented opportunities for families to pursue educational paths best suited to their children, whether through private schooling, homeschooling, or other innovative models like microschools.
By freeing families from the coercive power of compulsory schooling and unleashing the power of the market, we can create an education system that reflects America’s best ideals and prepares future generations for success in an increasingly complex world.
