Gender-lens investing (GLI) represents an opportunity to channel targeted funds to women’s businesses and other gender equality areas.
The development of gender-focused investment products, such as gender bonds, can serve as an effective tool to engage both public and private capital markets in supporting gender equality efforts and helping countries in Asia and the Pacific region achieve their sustainability objectives. This paper provides a review of the current GLI environment in Asia and the Pacific, highlights innovations, and provides recommendations for both public and private sector stakeholders to strengthen GLI as a means of increasing resources for gender equality goals.
