Our societies are ageing structurally. With every day that passes, each working-age adult is entrusted with a higher number of retirees for whom to provide. The productivity burden on the younger generation is mounting, while the generation’s size keeps shrinking, exacerbating future stress. In parallel are advancements in human longevity - older adults can now expect more healthy years beyond retirement age than ever before, though also more years living with disabilities. We need a paradigm shift to properly honour the immense resources and potential our older adults bring to our societies and mobilize them to turn a pressing challenge into an exhilarating new opportunity. The only way forward is together.
