The semiconductor value chain is highly complex, with globally distributed production processes and tightly interconnected segments. This paper identifies the key segments, its actors, inputs, and datasets, offering a comprehensive view of the semiconductor ecosystem. It examines each segment to identify bottlenecks and vulnerabilities. The analysis of cross-country linkages within the semiconductor value chain reveals a high concentration of critical inputs in specific regions, the specialisation of economies in certain segments and growing trade dependencies. Policymakers should consider actions to mitigate vulnerabilities and enhance the resilience of the semiconductor value chain, including through efforts to diversify supply chains and through sharing of information on market and policy developments. Strengthened international collaboration and knowledge sharing will be essential to address vulnerabilities and manage potential supply chain disruptions.
