Institutionalizing Community Engagement to Tackle Malnutrition: A Case Study of the Tithi Bhojan Initiative
ADB
2025.08.11
Child malnutrition is not only a government challenge but also a societal issue that demands collective action.

Tithi Bhojan is a community-based initiative in India that encourages families and local groups to provide meals to schoolchildren on special occasions. Originating in Gujarat and now part of the national PM POSHAN program, it has evolved into a broad social movement promoting shared responsibility for child nutrition. This case study explores how the program’s success is built on local leadership, community participation, and innovative partnerships, and offers insights into balancing national oversight with locally driven action.
