Inbound FDI posts US $30.5 billion in 2022

Inbound foreign direct investment (FDI) pledged to Korea increased 3.2 percent year-on-year to a record high of US $30.5 billion in 2022.
By region, investment pledged from the US rose 65.2 percent year-on-year to US $8.69 billion and investment pledged from the EU (including the UK) fell 36.9 percent to US $8.07 billion. FDI pledges from China dropped 21.1 percent to US $1.49 billion and Japanese investment rose 26.3 percent to US $1.53 billion.
By industry, inbound FDI in manufacturing soared 149.4 percent year-on-year to US $12.5 billion and investment in services came to US $16.6 billion, down 29.6 percent.
By region, investment pledged from the US rose 65.2 percent year-on-year to US $8.69 billion and investment pledged from the EU (including the UK) fell 36.9 percent to US $8.07 billion. FDI pledges from China dropped 21.1 percent to US $1.49 billion and Japanese investment rose 26.3 percent to US $1.53 billion.
