Enhancing Digital Services Trade: The Case of the People‘s Republic of China
This paper examines the drivers of digital services trade in the People’s Republic of China and the role of regulatory reforms in shaping services competitiveness.
Using new data on bilateral trade and foreign affiliate sales, the paper assesses the impact of information and communication technology (ICT) regulatory reforms and the implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership. Results show that both reforms would benefit Asian economies, with the largest effects stemming from reforms in the ICT sector.
